Food For Thought: 5 Foods That Boost Your Brain

If Nature had a ‘limitless’ pill, it’d probably be made of all of these.

If Nature had a ‘limitless’ pill, it’d probably be made of the stuff below, and without the side-effects like memory jumps and murder. But, you’d have to eat a healthy amount of them everyday. For the rest of yo’ life, son. But hey, it’s a short list, so it’s not impossible.

How it actually looks like. You’re welcome. (read the link again, it gets funnier)

Turmeric, the stuff you get in curry, contains the anti-inflammatory antioxidant curcumin. According to research[1], curcumin has shown to help inhibit the accumulation of destructive beta amyloids in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients. What’s more, curcumin can super charge your memory and stimulate the production of new brain cells. (Where is curry often found? India. Where do the best doctors and IT supernerds come from? India.)

Fish Oils

Other than the word 'fish', this picture nothing to do with fish oil.

Fish oil packs a healthy punch of omega-3 fatty acids in EPA and DHA. These two have been shown to help boost functions like speech patterns, memory and motor skills [2]. (MMA Nerd Fact: Joe Rogan pops about 10 a day)

This berry is rich with the antioxidant called anthocyanin. Research done by Tufts University found that anthocyanins can cross the blood-brain barrier, protecting brain cells from oxidation and boosting interactivity between brain neurons[1]. That didn’t  compute? More blueberries for table dummies, please.

Nuts, deez nuts, are a great source of unsaturated fats and vitamin E. They both contribute to better brain functioning [1].

Coconut Oil

In addition to containing Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT), which supports fat loss and build lean muscle tissue, coconut oil can help regenerate and heal nerve function in your brain[1]. And if you actually think that putting it in your hair will somehow soak into your brain, drink it every freakin’ day till that isn’t logical to you anymore.
